I can’t say enough about this awesome stamp set High Tide and this is the last of the projects from my OnStage Pheonix presentation. It’s available to customers on January 4th, 2017 along with many other fabulous things from Stampin’ UP!. because they are always outdoing themselves. I can’t keep up with their awesomeness 🙂

This project is actually simple. I purchased Ceramic Bisque Tiles, I’ve ordered mine from Blick Art Supplies http://www.dickblick.com. They are 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. I received a bulk discount so the tiles were only $.49 and you only have to purchase 12 to get that discount. If there isn’t a Blick Art Supply Store in your area, they ship!

These coasters will be available as a CLASS in January for locals to my area.

  1. Clean your tile, I used a little rubbing alcohol to clean off any surface mess. Let dry.
  2. Ink your stamp with Archival Ink – I used Basic Archival Grey and I love it!!!
  3. This set has multiple stamps so layer the stamps according to your set.
  4. Let dry…very important. I let them cure for days before sealing them.
  5. Seal with Mod Podge first, four layers and allow to dry overnight.
  6. Take a box and put wooden skewers on the bottom, lay the tiles on the skewers before sealing with the spray.
  7. Spray with a clear matte coat. Let dry for an hour and spray again. Be sure to let dry again and then spray the bottom.
  8. Why did I seal first with Mod Podge first? Well…I like the slight texture that I get from the brush strokes.
  9. Add cork circles with a hot glue gun OR use the stick on type. You can cover the entire bottom with cork OR just use the circles.

      I did let them dry first and the next batch I did, I just sprayed them with a matte finish. I ordered the adhesive cork bottoms from Amazon.

    Hi Carole what a great project can you tell me if the coasters after being sprayed with the Painters Touch are totally heat proof …or are they nit meant for really hot drinks

      I have stamped them in black and colored with alcohol markers. Copic, Sharpies or Spectrum Noir’s would work.

    Can you use the basic white kitchen tiles, or do you need a special type, would love to make some as presents.

      I would try one to see if it worked. Mine are flat bisque and not shiny. They make great presents and I have used many different stamps on them.

      You could try stamping with Stazon and see if it works on one tile. Mine were bisque and not gloss.

      I used an ink pad from Stampin’ UP! It was an archival grey, they don’t stock it now. Try looking for another Archieval Ink Pad in a search online. Gina K, Tim Holtz or Versafine.
